Dream homes

Not the we don't love our home but if we could put together a dream home of the things we love, these would be in it for sure. Do you think this home already exists? We hope so ! Must have a red door for sure. This door would be amazing, if it also included a... porch We love wainscoting, but to do that painful task again in a new home, well we would hope it would already be done for us. Our course white french doors would be a must. Preferably in the entrance from our dining room into our living room. And who wouldn't love wood beams. They are just beautiful. I did see a DIY version of these babies online, but I don't think our current ceiling height would be good for this option. Shame. And this picture shows three lovely things. Bead board, pocket door and a vintage style light fixture. Perfection ! Our bedroom would be good for the batten and board shown here. So beautiful. Oh and built-ins would be a must. We have a "built in" bookcase that we love now and w

Back by popular demand...

Decorating posts ! It's no secret I love the Fall. My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving, we were married in the Fall and had a leaf themed wedding. I love the cool brisk days however the weather in NY as of lately has been no where near fall like. It's humid and warm. The forecast shows a break in the next coming days and I am ecstatic! And just in time too for me to decorate for Halloween. To get inspired here are some fall beauties. Enjoy ! And Happy Fall !

It's the small things

Today I received an email from a friend telling me she read my "Faith" post and "it moved her to tears." I have to say that this alone makes me feel that I count. Some days I am not too sure as to who is my "friend" or who is my "foe." Like I mentioned life has been pretty tough these days. I feel as if I am in elementary school again in many circumstances. But these feelings will not be able to drag me down or win out in my emotions. They too will pass, just like the seasons. Small things are what really counts. A friend telling you that "you impress them" or another one simply getting you a cup of coffee because you have no money this week, make all the difference. This post seems fitting to give the lyrics to an older song with a big meaning : To everything - turn, turn, turn There is a season - turn, turn, turn And a time for every purpose under heaven A time to be born, a time to die A time to plant, a time to reap A time to kill

Faith

I am not too sure who reads my blog but if we don't know each other this next post may or may not be for you. Hey, even if we do know each other it may or may not be as well. Just figured I would give you some kind of heads up that this post is not the normal decor boasting kind. It's much more deeper then that... It's been many months since I attended a church service. My husband has gone a few times without me, because for one reason or other, I was unable to attend. Most times when I go to service I feel that they are directly speaking to me. Yesterday morning was no different. I am not sure if it's God or my church speaking to me, but whomever it is, I felt/heard it loud and clear. Our church is different than most. First off it's set in an industrial park and when you walk into the building you would think you've walked into a cafe. It's a very warm place. Worship always begins and ends with a fantastic song. Yesterday was no different. Except, for some

Farmhouse Chic

I've always loved old looking things. I love the classic Hampton home with cedar singles that has character throughout and I love farmhouses. They are just so cozy and adorable. I wish we had one. Ah maybe someday. Here are some of my favorites from the Web. I love the window boxes on this one ! And really, who would not love to wake up to this every day? Amazing ! Of course with Farmhouse things comes farmhouse decor. Here are somethings I've found along my travels on the web for your viewing pleasure. I love this idea of old tea towels strung together to make a curtain valance. This pillow is adorable and cheap too ! . Who doesn't need a bird napkin holder? And this could be used as a toast holder or a modern day bill holder. So awesome.

Back to that walnut tree

Having a walnut tree in our yard came as a surprise to us. After Hurricane Irene, we noticed large acorn like balls all around the yard. They were way too big to be normal acorns so it peaked our curiosity. After some poking, prodding , and research on the Internet , we realized we have a walnut tree. So now what? Well what we have found out is this, it's a black walnut tree, we learned how to "harvest" the nuts and well, the juglone that it releases into the soil around the tree is not good for the other plants or grass around it. So much for all our hard work this summer. Bummer. Now some pictures. Here is one to show you just how tall this tree is, no wonder I had a mini heart attack when the hurricane was coming. These trees are huge ! You can see how large it is compared to our home. Here is the base of the tree with three hostas surrounding it. Not sure why these lasted but the grass that was planted all around it and two other hostas did not. Odd. See all that d

Curtains are annoying

A while back I found the perfect curtains for our bedroom at World Market, now they are sold out and gone. Bummer. So I am looking for some other ones that will be just as good. It's near impossible !!! I found these on Etsy that I love : The measurements are 42 x 84. I have two windows in our room that I want these for and in order to make them work I would need to have someone cut them in half and then add another two panels on each window. I love them and am willing to do it. Just have to measure it all out and plan. Why is it so hard to find cool curtains these days? Or is it that my idea of "cool" is not what is in style now a days... Something to ponder on.

Bad blogger = Etsy love

I have a blog in the works, two of them to be exact but since I've gone back to school things have gotten a bit hectic. Here are some new Etsy loves for now... I am not really this fancy, but this set is so pretty. These teeny tiny houses are too cute. I have no where to even place them but, well, they are cute. Everyone needs a Gnome. This is super pretty but just not cheap enough to buy yet. And this would be amazing on the my Bday Hutch. Hmm maybe. So that's it for now. Happy Hump day, hope your week flies by to the weekend.

Lusterware

I did not think it was possible to get another addiction to something, but, um, it is. These pieces are so beautiful I want every single one of them !!!
