Before & After Sunday

We had a pretend Nor'easter here Saturday night and we lost power. AGAIN ! Because I couldn't sleep I started to think of things I could do to switch things up in the office. I have a very old file bin, that broke and had a hot pink lid. It so didn't match our office. I haven't been able to find a new one nor have I wanted to spend money on a new one, so I improvised. I took some fabric, wrapped it around, secured with some hot glue and spray painted the lib. Voila, like new. Here is a shot of the "old bin." And one of the "new." Some close ups. I really need to do something with the hardware on the cabinet... but where in the world is a screwdriver????!!! Calling my husband lol ... *** Scratch that, found what I needed and sprayed them... Ta-da And then because I was bored and should have been using my time more wisely, I decided to add rosettes to a lamp in the office. Here is the before lonely lamp... And here is the after. They are pretty easy ...

Suit Up

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Express . All opinions are 100% mine. If you've ever watched "How I met your mother," you would know that the character Barney Stinson always "suits up" for every occasion. He makes it known how important it is to always look your best. And he does do it well. So why shouldn't we all try this?  Well now you can. Express is giving away $500.00 to the lucky winner to spend for a suit makeover.  You can enter the sweepstakes here  Express sweepstakes Looking over at the express website I saw that there are a lot of great suits for both men and women that can go from day to night. If you happen to work in a more professional atmosphere but still want to wear something that is comfortable, this can work for you. Especially if you want to transition from business day to night time drinks or dinner.  Check out the Express site for some more gorgeous fashion  Express ...

Whooooooooooooooo?????????

When I started this blog I hoped I would get some views and some followers. Lately I've noticed my views increase every so often. I only have 10 actual "followers" but I see more views then that and I don't know if my "followers" are actually reading. So I have a favor to ask. If you read my blog, would you mind just commenting to let me know. You can be anonymous or not, just curious to see who actually comes around. Oh and if you like the above print you can buy it where I found it. http://papernstitch.com/product/owl-who-print How cool this this? I found it during my search for owls. Not sure if it's real or not but it's super cool. Enjoy your weekend !

So....

How did you sleep last night? Was the temperature just right? Not too hot? Not too cold? Did you have enough to drink? What about eat? Did you have to walk miles to be safe in your bed? Did you have to sweep water away from where you could rest your mat to lay for the night? I am sure none of us had any issue sleeping last night, but across the waters there are many that have these frightening conditions nightly. Right now the LRA is invading someones "safe" home and terrorizing many people in Africa. Did you even know that this was happening? Have you ever even heard of the LRA? http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/para/lra.htmI I will admit I certainly didn't and I'd like to think I do not live under a rock, but I honestly had no idea that this was going on. Last night my church hosted an organization called "Invisible Children." http://www.invisiblechildren.com/ This organization is trying to help end the abduction of children for the use of sold...

So ugly they are awesome....

There is just something about these that I love. They are $28.00 for a set of two and the shipping is $10.00, so they would be $19.00 each. Not too sure if they are worth it but I love them ! They would be an awesome addition to my living room. I also have been wanting to get this sign for a very long time now. It's a vinyl sticker on from Etsy and I would love to place it under our wedding picture that hangs in our living room. I am very torn if this picture should still be hung, it's large and we've been married for almost 4 years... Not too sure. Opinions? Here is an older picture of the room., but the picture is still hung where it is... If I decide to take down, I'd hang something else there but I am not too sure what...

Pumpkins

It does not matter if they are heirloom or regular old pumpkins, I love them. There is not much about the Fall that I do not like, well maybe I don't like raking. So back to pumpkins, over the weekend I decided to paint two of mine white and put a bit of brown on them to make them sorta shabby chic. Here's some pics tell me what you think? I also took two of my faux pumpkins from inside and glittered them. Oh yea that little pumpkin scarecrow on the left of my door, he's been around for ages. Ain't he cute? This shows you the glittered pumpkins up close. Pardon the wax paper they were on there to dry.

BHLDN

For those who may not know, Anthropologie has a wedding website now. They have gowns, dresses, jewelry, shoes, and even gifts you can buy for the wedding. In honor of our upcoming anniversary, I figured it was a good idea to have a wedding inspired post. I would marry Keith a million times if I could. Just for fun here are some items I would wear.

Silhouettes

The first time I saw a silhouette was in my grandparents home when I was younger. They had three that were of my two cousins and my oldest sister. If I remember correctly, they hung in their stairway. I loved them. This should have been the first inclination that I would always love all things artsy. However, I didn't tune into this until much later in life. The first set of silhouettes that I made were of my husband and I. We do not have children yet so I chose to do to them of ourselves using pictures from our wedding. The next set I made was of my niece and nephew for my sister birthday. And lastly, my best friend and I like to make things for each of our birthdays. This year she sent me an adorable canvas she made me and I sent her a silhouette of her pup. I love the look of them so much I even set up shop today on Etsy. So if any of you like them out there you can now order a custom made one from yours truly ! Thanks for looking ! http://www.etsy.com/shop/KOKOPELI...

To curtain or not to curtain...

That is the question. For months I've been looking for curtains for a our room. This past weekend I went on a hunt to find the perfect ones. I am still uncertain with my choice. I love the pattern and the color of what I chose, but I think the length is what I am unhappy with, I think? Here is the before picture with the old verticals. And another shot with the current bedding And now with the curtains. Maybe I should have taken the picture in the daytime? Not sure what's throwing me off but I know I don't love it. Close up of the pattern and the tie back hardware. And close up of the curtain rod before the touch ups. I think it's back to the drawing board this weekend...
