Easter

It's no secret that I not only love to host but I love Easter ! Here are some of the pictures from my Easter festivies ! I wish I took pictures of all the food and desserts. I have to remind myself to do that next time.

Every year my family makes Easter pie, some know it as Pizza Rustica as well. My uncle used to make it when he hosted at his home and when I took over, I figured might as well keep with tradition. I never did get his recipe (tisk tisk Uncle Tom) but I did find one online and added some more ingredients to it. Delish !  Here is what it looks like in pictures. Sorry no taste tests =).

All the ingredients
Mix together and stick in a pie crust

Cover with another
Bake and Finished !
I also decided to make some sausage bread too. I probably should've made two of them. So note to self in the future make two ! Here is the not so pretty before :
But the delicious after !

Of course I also love to decorate our table in a beautiful spring way. Here are some pictures of what I did this year. Similar to last but I just love this table cloth ! I used my every day square white plates with different round salad plates. I started to collect the plates last year and right before last Easter, the set was complete. I also used the Mikasa cheers wine goblets. I love them ! They are very delicate but so pretty.

The bird plate is one of my favorites

Yes my salt and pepper shaker is that big !

Close up of the cloth and the Hydrangea

What's Easter without an egg wreath ?? !!

Hope everyone had a great weekend and great Easter. Thanks for stopping by !

Some plans come undone...

This seems to be the theme of our lives lately but it also fit in to the semi decorating reno I wanted to do in our downstairs bathroom/laundry room. And see that was the question, is it a bathroom or is it a laundry room or heck, is it both? I decided to embrace it and decorate around it being a laundry room. I planned on painting the walls gray and one day I will get around to it. But for now I just used the decorations I had come up with to change it up a bit. Here is the before. And the after... We removed the verticals and hung a valance that we had, we had changed the light fixture months ago to make it flow better with the one above the sink. We also changed the hardware on all the cabinets to silver instead of bronze. We also added a shelf to go above the washer and dryer. This way all the soap, fabric softener and bounce sheets had a new home. I then added decorations that went with the theme of a laundry room. Believe it or not this old washboard was in our shed. Looks like ...

Tea bag magic

Don't mind this super old picture of our home. This was when we first moved in but I needed to show the coloring of the chair when it was first purchased. We bought this chair from Ikea when we first purchased our home. It was just okay to me but it fit where I wanted so I worked with it for a while. I played around with different pillows and blankets for the chair but nothing ever really felt right. Until recently, when I decided to take off the bottom cushion cover and dye it with tea bags. I have done the application twice and I think I have finally gotten it to the desired coloring. Take a look. Original 1st application 2nd application Another view So maybe now it will feel a bit better in the room. Not sure if I will go for a third application or change up the New York pillow.

Family

I began to write a posting on July 17, before we knew what God had planned for our sweet Kim.... Kim was taken home that evening to heaven. My entire family is in shock. As I am writing this, tears are running down my face.... Please sweet Jesus watch over Kim, she is safe now with you and is in no pain. Please watch over our family, heal our hearts as we keep Kim alive within ourselves.: "I don't have a very large extended family. Some may think it is, but in reality, it's truly not. I have a few aunts, a few uncles and a few cousins. Most live in different states and many times, communication is sparse. But we are all bonded, in an unspoken way. When one of us is in need, we all speak up and rally. My cousin Kim lives in North Carolina. I have not seen her in "real life" in many years. Maybe the last time was my wedding ? ! But we keep up on each others lives via Facebook. When she recently visited my mom, I was able to see her via Facetime.... Love techno...
