Four-tee

Well now, here I am 40. I am not too sure why it's a big deal age. It doesn't feel any different than 39 =) I think it's a big deal because possibly you start to get more clarity of your life when it hits. You start to realize the importance of things. The importance in people who actually show up and the realization that some times regardless of how much YOU may care for others, they simply are too involved with themselves to show up. Live and learn. The people who spent their time with me are who matter most. And ya know what, I am okay with that !

40 for me was a four day celebration. On my actual birthday my little trio went to the city to the Top of Rock. What an amazing view ! Such a cool thing to do.  We had dinner after but then the day was cut short by mother nature. No biggie !Image may contain: 3 people, including Keith Bullock and Beth Bullock, people smiling, selfie, beard, closeup and outdoor

The next day I shopped and then watched the sunset on the beach with my sister, her friend and my guys. Even had cupcakes ! Long Island may be overcrowded, but wow, what a life we have here !

Saturday was filled with relaxation then dinner with my sisters, brother in law and love of my life. Such a fun night !

The 4 day extravaganza ended with a THREE hour spa day and brunch with my sisters. I was truly surprised they planned this for me. Such a great day !

I don't mind 40 at all. Every year I should get a 4 day birthday =)

Some plans come undone...

This seems to be the theme of our lives lately but it also fit in to the semi decorating reno I wanted to do in our downstairs bathroom/laundry room. And see that was the question, is it a bathroom or is it a laundry room or heck, is it both? I decided to embrace it and decorate around it being a laundry room. I planned on painting the walls gray and one day I will get around to it. But for now I just used the decorations I had come up with to change it up a bit. Here is the before. And the after... We removed the verticals and hung a valance that we had, we had changed the light fixture months ago to make it flow better with the one above the sink. We also changed the hardware on all the cabinets to silver instead of bronze. We also added a shelf to go above the washer and dryer. This way all the soap, fabric softener and bounce sheets had a new home. I then added decorations that went with the theme of a laundry room. Believe it or not this old washboard was in our shed. Looks like ...

Tea bag magic

Don't mind this super old picture of our home. This was when we first moved in but I needed to show the coloring of the chair when it was first purchased. We bought this chair from Ikea when we first purchased our home. It was just okay to me but it fit where I wanted so I worked with it for a while. I played around with different pillows and blankets for the chair but nothing ever really felt right. Until recently, when I decided to take off the bottom cushion cover and dye it with tea bags. I have done the application twice and I think I have finally gotten it to the desired coloring. Take a look. Original 1st application 2nd application Another view So maybe now it will feel a bit better in the room. Not sure if I will go for a third application or change up the New York pillow.

Family

I began to write a posting on July 17, before we knew what God had planned for our sweet Kim.... Kim was taken home that evening to heaven. My entire family is in shock. As I am writing this, tears are running down my face.... Please sweet Jesus watch over Kim, she is safe now with you and is in no pain. Please watch over our family, heal our hearts as we keep Kim alive within ourselves.: "I don't have a very large extended family. Some may think it is, but in reality, it's truly not. I have a few aunts, a few uncles and a few cousins. Most live in different states and many times, communication is sparse. But we are all bonded, in an unspoken way. When one of us is in need, we all speak up and rally. My cousin Kim lives in North Carolina. I have not seen her in "real life" in many years. Maybe the last time was my wedding ? ! But we keep up on each others lives via Facebook. When she recently visited my mom, I was able to see her via Facetime.... Love techno...
