Music makes the world go round !

Hey peeps, hope you had a great weekend. Today the sun is shining, things are moving along with my work and I am a bit more happy than usual. Must have been the extra iced coffee that I just got on lunch !

I love music. I have very eclectic taste in it. I really love all genres of it besides hard core metal. I love oldies, Big Band, Alternative, Pop, hip hop, reggae, dance, Indie, yep and even country. I narrowed it down a top four that are my favorites. Wanna know? Yep thought so.

In no particular order.

Dave Matthews Band

My favorite song : Jimi Thing, with lyrics like " What I want is what I've not got, But what I need is all around me, Reaching searching never stop " how could you not think they are genius !

I can honestly say there is not one song by this band that I do not like. I've seen them 5 times in concert and loved it every time. The best was in Central Park. What a magical evening it was !

Bjork

Too many favorite songs but these lyrics from "One Day" really stick to me.

One day, it will happen
One day, it will all come true.

One day, when you're ready
One day, when you're up to it.

The atmosphere
Will get lighter
And two suns ready
To shine just for you
I can feel it, I can feel it.

Ella Fitzgerald

This lady has a set of pipes on her. Love her smooth romantic sounds to pieces. I love the version she does of "Mack the Knife," she forgets the lyrics mid way through and ad libs. So amazing !

And Led Zeppelin

.

When I was little my sister Dawn would babysit me a lot. Led Zeppelin will always remind me of her. Zeppelin, Ozzy and freestyle were the soundtrack to my childhood.

My favorite song : "Fool in the rain" Specifically listening to it in loud volumes. Amazing.

Who is your favorite?

Some plans come undone...

This seems to be the theme of our lives lately but it also fit in to the semi decorating reno I wanted to do in our downstairs bathroom/laundry room. And see that was the question, is it a bathroom or is it a laundry room or heck, is it both? I decided to embrace it and decorate around it being a laundry room. I planned on painting the walls gray and one day I will get around to it. But for now I just used the decorations I had come up with to change it up a bit. Here is the before. And the after... We removed the verticals and hung a valance that we had, we had changed the light fixture months ago to make it flow better with the one above the sink. We also changed the hardware on all the cabinets to silver instead of bronze. We also added a shelf to go above the washer and dryer. This way all the soap, fabric softener and bounce sheets had a new home. I then added decorations that went with the theme of a laundry room. Believe it or not this old washboard was in our shed. Looks like ...

Tea bag magic

Don't mind this super old picture of our home. This was when we first moved in but I needed to show the coloring of the chair when it was first purchased. We bought this chair from Ikea when we first purchased our home. It was just okay to me but it fit where I wanted so I worked with it for a while. I played around with different pillows and blankets for the chair but nothing ever really felt right. Until recently, when I decided to take off the bottom cushion cover and dye it with tea bags. I have done the application twice and I think I have finally gotten it to the desired coloring. Take a look. Original 1st application 2nd application Another view So maybe now it will feel a bit better in the room. Not sure if I will go for a third application or change up the New York pillow.

Family

I began to write a posting on July 17, before we knew what God had planned for our sweet Kim.... Kim was taken home that evening to heaven. My entire family is in shock. As I am writing this, tears are running down my face.... Please sweet Jesus watch over Kim, she is safe now with you and is in no pain. Please watch over our family, heal our hearts as we keep Kim alive within ourselves.: "I don't have a very large extended family. Some may think it is, but in reality, it's truly not. I have a few aunts, a few uncles and a few cousins. Most live in different states and many times, communication is sparse. But we are all bonded, in an unspoken way. When one of us is in need, we all speak up and rally. My cousin Kim lives in North Carolina. I have not seen her in "real life" in many years. Maybe the last time was my wedding ? ! But we keep up on each others lives via Facebook. When she recently visited my mom, I was able to see her via Facetime.... Love techno...
