Maybe it's one out of three ain't bad instead....

I had lots of plans this weekend to do many things that, simply didn't work. First up faux crown molding for my office. My mom bought it for a project of her own but it didn't work so she gave it to me. Since it was free from my mom, I decided to give it a try. From the beginning my husband swore it was not going to work. Of course, I made him put it up on the entire room before I admitted defeat. Sadly it fell off the wall during the night and off it came...
Here is one shot of it not looking half bad.
But if you look closely at this shot, where the two pieces overlay, you will see it's just not a good sight. There is no caulk in this world that could fix it.
Too bad I didn't take a picture of it falling off the wall. At that point, I was too bummed to grab the camera. Oh well.

Then I went to the fabric store to get burlap to cover my bedroom closet doors, these ones right here...
Yes burlap ! Well they only sold loose fitting burlap that was very very fuzzy, so that was a no go too. Back to the drawing board on that, maybe I will do grass-cloth wallpaper. We shall see ...

But in other highlights I scored two paintings for $23.00 total. That's what I call a deal. This one is for my husbands non man cave room (lol see this post to know what I am talking about NON MAN CAVE)

And then for our dining room. I love this one and on the back is a message from the painter to I assume their friend they were giving it to as a gift. So awesome.

So that wraps up the weekend goodies. I found some solutions for artwork for the other bathroom project we are doing. Can't wait to get started on that one.

Some plans come undone...

This seems to be the theme of our lives lately but it also fit in to the semi decorating reno I wanted to do in our downstairs bathroom/laundry room. And see that was the question, is it a bathroom or is it a laundry room or heck, is it both? I decided to embrace it and decorate around it being a laundry room. I planned on painting the walls gray and one day I will get around to it. But for now I just used the decorations I had come up with to change it up a bit. Here is the before. And the after... We removed the verticals and hung a valance that we had, we had changed the light fixture months ago to make it flow better with the one above the sink. We also changed the hardware on all the cabinets to silver instead of bronze. We also added a shelf to go above the washer and dryer. This way all the soap, fabric softener and bounce sheets had a new home. I then added decorations that went with the theme of a laundry room. Believe it or not this old washboard was in our shed. Looks like ...

Tea bag magic

Don't mind this super old picture of our home. This was when we first moved in but I needed to show the coloring of the chair when it was first purchased. We bought this chair from Ikea when we first purchased our home. It was just okay to me but it fit where I wanted so I worked with it for a while. I played around with different pillows and blankets for the chair but nothing ever really felt right. Until recently, when I decided to take off the bottom cushion cover and dye it with tea bags. I have done the application twice and I think I have finally gotten it to the desired coloring. Take a look. Original 1st application 2nd application Another view So maybe now it will feel a bit better in the room. Not sure if I will go for a third application or change up the New York pillow.

Family

I began to write a posting on July 17, before we knew what God had planned for our sweet Kim.... Kim was taken home that evening to heaven. My entire family is in shock. As I am writing this, tears are running down my face.... Please sweet Jesus watch over Kim, she is safe now with you and is in no pain. Please watch over our family, heal our hearts as we keep Kim alive within ourselves.: "I don't have a very large extended family. Some may think it is, but in reality, it's truly not. I have a few aunts, a few uncles and a few cousins. Most live in different states and many times, communication is sparse. But we are all bonded, in an unspoken way. When one of us is in need, we all speak up and rally. My cousin Kim lives in North Carolina. I have not seen her in "real life" in many years. Maybe the last time was my wedding ? ! But we keep up on each others lives via Facebook. When she recently visited my mom, I was able to see her via Facetime.... Love techno...
